History:

Lawrence, founded in 1697 by Quakers, Dutch Reformed, Scottish and Irish Presbyterians and French Huguenots, was named in 1816 for naval hero Captain John Lawrence. Lawrence is known for the village of Lawrenceville, a national historic landmark.
