History:
It is believed that Cranbury was settled as early as 1680 with the first record of a land sale in 1698.  The Gristmill, built on Cranberry Brook around 1736, was probably the nucleus for the eventual development of the village.  Cranbury Township was founded in 1872.

Character:
Cranbury Township has one of the most picturesque villages in the area; a registered historic district filled with antique shops and charming homes in well-kept eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings.  May housing choices are available, including single-family, senior residences, developments and assisted-living complexes.  Cranbury is located near the New Jersey Turnpike and offers bus service to New York City.
